Finding the perfect apartment starts with developing a checklist of things you want to make sure to have in your rental property. Bring the checklist with you when looking at properties and take notes so you can compare them later to help narrow down the choices.

Remember that signing a lease usually involves a time commitment, so you'll want to be sure the place is a good fit before making any final decisions. Take your time, and don't allow anyone to pressure you into a particular direction -- this isn't the time for spur-of-the-moment decisions.
