Both people and pets will be welcome at a block party that will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 6 at Canal Street Plaza in Pooler.

The block party is sponsored jointly by H&R Block, Georgia Animal Rescue and Defense and Bella Salon & Spa.

Events and activities will include a bounce house, free face painting, the North Salem Baptist Youth bake sale, Girl Scout cookies, hot dogs, balloons and dance demonstrations. Door prizes will be given away every hour, and all kinds of items will be available for sale.

There will be some special deals to make you beautiful. Bella Salon will offer a free paraffin hand wrap and free facial analysis.

For our four-footed friends, G.A.R.D. will offer pet ear cleaning and nail clipping, and microchipping will be available. There also will also be a best-dressed dog contest, a cutest dog trick contest and dog/owner races.

All proceeds will benefit G.A.R.D. Dogs will be available for adoption, so even if you don't bring a pet, you might leave with one.
